Which Mount Etna tour should you choose?

In short: with kids, pick the 4x4 jeep tour or the easy Monti Sartorius walk; experienced hikers head for the summit area; with only half a day, the jeep and quad tours take about 2–2.5 hours. The north side (Piano Provenzana) is the closest to Taormina; the south side (Rifugio Sapienza) has the cable car.

With kids or as a family

The 4x4 jeep tour suits all ages, with short easy walks. Families who enjoy walking can book the Monti Sartorius trek, an easy private hike among the craters of 1865.

Experienced hikers

The summit craters trek climbs with a certified guide to the highest altitude permitted by the ordinances in force. If you want distance, the lateral craters and hornitos trek covers about 12 km downhill.

Only half a day?

The 4x4 jeep tour and the quad tour fit in a morning or an afternoon: lava fields, craters and panoramic viewpoints in about 2–2.5 hours.
